NTA Clarifies Aadhaar Card Guidelines for JEE Main 2026 Aspirants

Aadhaar Card in JEE Main 2026 Registration

Synopsis:

National Testing Agency gave an official release on the Aadhaar Card Row that drew JEE Mains Aspirants' Attention on the Internet. Every year, there is a rise in the number of JEE Mains aspirants planning to take the examination.  In the upcoming academic year (2025-26), at least 25 lakhs engineering aspirants plan to write the JEE exam, but confusion arose in the minds of parents and students regarding the examination center. Whether or not an aspirant will be given a chance to select their choice of exam center. Is the address mentioned in the Aadhaar Card the final in deciding the examination center for JEE Mains? On this issue, NTA released a statement that calmed the confused brains of parents and aspirants.

Several media reports said that students are expected to reflect their address that corresponds to the one mentioned in the Aadhaar Card when filling out the JEE Mains online application form. But these reports created an uproar, confusing the minds of JEE Mains aspirants 2026. Over a period, the same scenario continued, and the National Testing Agency, NTA, reacted to the situation and gave a detailed press release on September 29, 2025, clarifying their previous stand and how it was to be interpreted by the aspirants.

NTA was concerned about the ID proof of the student, which includes authentic parameters of the applicant’s name, date of birth, and other significant parameters that are prerequisites when filling out the online registration form. But the readers misinterpreted that they should provide the address mentioned on the Aadhaar card to take the exam, and have no choice in selecting their desired location and examination center. But that is completely untrue, according to NTA.

According to NTA, they want the uploaded information to be free from discrepancies, and the personal details information so provided should match the Aadhaar card info. So, to prevent such mistakes, NTA advised students to update the documents carefully and never imposed restrictions on selecting their chosen exam center. That means, if the student's Aadhaar card is from one city but they plan to take it from another, it is permissible.

NTA's Timely Response Gives Recluse to JEE Main Aspirants:

In panic, many students began to change their Aadhaar card address details just to match the opted examination center. Ultimately, this clarification over the press release has given a recluse to the JEE Main 2026 aspirants. However, the official notification on registration and guidelines for JEE Main 2026 presents a clear picture of the situation.

Caution:

NTA has cautioned aspirants not to trust any Instagram, Facebook, or any digital space that publishes any such unauthentic information.

Conclusion:

The timely official release of a statement by the National Testing Agency, NTA, has calmed down the rising confusion on the Aadhaar card row. However, the JEE Mains aspirants can choose the examination center of their choice, avoiding the address details furnished in their Aadhar Card.
