Resonance conducts JEE mock tests every Monday. Why?

Every Monday, Resonites take mock tests on the previous week's covered portions. These mock tests are scheduled every week without interruption, unless anything of academic importance is underway. At the end of the week, important questions on the topics covered are discussed, and the resonites are equipped with all the information needed to take on the first day of the upcoming week, Monday. This day is the deadline for every resonite participating in the JEE Main or Advanced program to deliver their best on the topics learned, including concepts and applications. What happens after the mock test in Resonance Colleges?

1. Resonites review their correct and incorrect answers through detailed explanations delivered by expert faculty. 

2. Remember, this is where the real work of our faculty and mentors begins. Not to paint an ugly picture of the declared results, but during the first few weeks of the weekly exam, resonites often get disheartened. Why is it so? The answer shouldn't surprise a parent or student. 

3. The weekly test can seem tough because the questions aren't direct. Most questions are based on key standards and mirror the JEE Main question pattern.  So what? That shouldn't be disappointing, should it? It will be, because every question is concept-based, and to solve them, a resonite must adapt to each question's analytical approach. 

4. Based on the scenario, the faculty explains the errors made in solving the question paper and asks resonites to recover from those mistakes. 

• To do so, the faculty asks resonites to follow a thumb rule or a standard, universally applicable procedure. Maintain a separate 'error notebook.' 

• After reviewing every mock test conducted on Monday, resonite should allot sufficient time to correct errors and move closer to an error-free zone. 

• Week by week, every resonite is asked to reduce their errors and avoid repeating them. 

• In short, every feedback on the answered mock test paper on Monday should be considered as an error correction session, and not a bad remark. 

Why is the mock test evaluation conducted immediately on Monday itself? 

1. An immediate test evaluation shall help resonites identify their committed errors and validate their weak concepts. 

2. After every test, one can understand any repeated errors. 

3. Immediate corrective action can help resonites avoid making the same mistakes in the future. 

What is the next step action taken by the faculty/mentors after the error correction sessions? 

1. Several resonites who make mistakes may feel low, and this is where faculty and mentors take initiative by giving valuable feedback and boosting their morale and confidence. 

2. Besides counselling resonites, another important next step faculty take is connecting with parents and helping them understand the ground realities of their child's education.

3. In this session, the faculty ask parents to support their child in the early stages when the child fails to understand that JEE Main is different from the rest and will require patience, perseverance, and confidence in the preparatory journey. However, let us further shed light on the exam pattern every Monday.

What is the exam pattern for Monday's mock test?

1. For better understanding, let us assume a topic is covered in every subject, namely mathematics, physics, and chemistry.  What would the exam pattern be? 

2. The topic-wise exam will be for 300 marks and be 3 hours long. The question pattern will resemble the JEE Main papers, and questions can appear in any form, depending on the question type. They may be multiple-choice, numerical, or assertion/reasoning questions. 

3. Each subject will contain 25 questions, of which 20 questions are in the form of multiple-choice, and 5 questions represent the numericals. Resonite must answer 25 per subject, totalling 75 questions that carry 300 marks.

   
   

Note: Parents must realise that from day one, resonites need to adjust and practise until their final exam, whether JEE Main or JEE Advanced.

During the preparation for competitive exams, such as JEE Main or JEE Advanced, the faculty completes the syllabus well ahead of time. Only then can regular mock tests on a specific day, like Monday, help resonites practice in a simulated atmosphere.
