1. To separate candidates when there are more than 4 in the race for the toppers' entry to BITS, the admissions committee considers the following tie-breaking steps. 

2. In the tie-break, students on the topper list are eliminated in the following order: mathematics, physics, and chemistry. 

3. Still, if the students have obtained the same marks, their marks obtained in the tenth class are compared by considering mathematics, physics, and chemistry in sequence. 

4. By doing so, the total list of 4 state topper students eligible for entry is finalised.
