Synopsis:Â
Here are a few recorded facts about the AI curriculum that should interest every resonite and spearhead their preparation towards the IITs - the leading premier technological institutions. Something our resonites should never miss: information on AI developments in the educational curriculum.Â
With the rapid adoption of AI tools and service applications across the economy, IITs have swiftly updated their curricula to meet the new-age demands. As many as 51 Artificial Intelligence courses have been introduced to help IITians match the global competitive scenario in science and technology. Resonites! You are aspiring for IITs when a major shift in AI applications in various engineering fields is taking place. The information below presents AI curricula in two breakdowns.Â
Overall, AI educational curricula are evolving across the 23 IITs in the nation and abroad.Â
IIT Madras & IIT Bombay are adopting AI courses in sectors that are highly applicable to industry.Â
The official IIT Council database states that several IITs offer B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering and postgraduate programs in Artificial Intelligence (IIT Ropar), and IIT Mandi offers B.Tech in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.  Â
According to the review, 23 IITs offer about 50 degree-level programs in AI, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and related AI and Data Science combinations.Â
The School of Artificial Intelligence has developed programmes centred on machine intelligence and data science. The institution has also introduced M.Tech and MS Research.
Delhi Institute designs and develops research study material. The study focuses on deep learning, reinforcement learning, and computer vision. In addition, the institute is involved in natural language processing, AI healthcare, manufacturing, and intelligent robotics.Â
In 2025, IIT Madras launched five beginner-friendly AI courses for students, faculty, and working professionals.Â
The institute has designed the SWAYAM Plus platform, which introduces AI in Chemistry, AI in Accounting, Cricket Analytics with AI and AI/ML using Python.Â
By September 2025, IIT expanded its AI curricula to educators and school teachers.Â
By April 2026, three prominent courses were introduced, benefiting three segments: AI for Aspiring Engineers, AI for Educators, & AI for Prompt Engineering, and the Institution has introduced 500 online courses across 15 sectors.
In 2024-25, according to the review reports, IIT Bombay introduced new programmes in Applied Geophysics, Climate Sustainability, Semiconductor materials, computational materials engineering, MEMS & AI & Data Science.Â
It introduced an 18-month executive postgraduate diploma in AI & Data Science, covering machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and AI/ML in practice.Â
In 2025, the institute introduced industry-oriented learning: a 4-month online Leadership with AI course for working professionals to scale up their AI initiatives.Â
IITs across India are introducing AI courses for aspiring engineers, professionals, and prompt engineers to enable them to drive AI initiatives. Every year, with the consent of the IIT Council, IITs launch one or more courses to meet fast-growing industry needs. The above information is just the tip of the iceberg; AI technology is growing rapidly across several engineering institutions, but IITs, as premier institutions in India, receive more attention than others. We are confident this information will benefit every resonite who aspires to step into IITs for undergraduate studies. Another interesting development is that IIT Kanpur plans to revamp the IIT admissions process; instead of the JEE Advanced examination, the admission process may take on a new face altogether.Â
