Synopsis:

NTA maintains absolute transparency in the evaluation of the JEE Main Session 2 response sheet. A sheet that is submitted to the invigilator in the examination hall. The agency provides JEE Main Session 2 aspirants with an opportunity to reevaluate their performance in the Session 2 examination. In the process, the NTA keeps the challenge window open for two to three days, from April 11 to April 13 or 14, which is an assumption. Interested candidates are advised to keep a close watch on the NTA's official website. 

Session 2 aspirants are encouraged to use the window to cross-check their response (answers) against the answer key. If the aspirant is confident in their answer, they can challenge by uploading their argument to the designated area on the website. The aspirant will be awarded marks if their argument is proven to be correct. The information below specifies the procedure for accessing the official website (https://jeemain.nta.nic.in) and the payment process to enter the challenge window. 

Payment Process to Enrol for Response Challenge:

  1. On April 11, 2026, the NTA will share the provisional answer keys, question papers, and recorded responses on the designated web portal. Candidates who want to challenge through the window can upload their provisional answer keys by paying a non-refundable processing fee ( INR 200/-) anytime between April 11& 13 or 14, 2026. The deadline is April 13 or 14 until 11:50 pm.

  2. The candidate is free to pay the processing fee via debit card, credit card, or net banking. The payment link shall be kept open until 11:50 pm on April 13 or 14, 2026. Any other payment method is restrictive. 

Answer Key Challenges & the conditions:

The NTA's expert panel shall evaluate the candidates' responses, and if the candidate's argument is correct, the answer key shall be updated accordingly. The final results shall reflect the updated answer key.  

Important Note:

The candidate shall not be informed of the results of the NTA's expert panel regarding the acceptance or rejection of the challenge. However, the final answer sheet shall be finalised by the NTA.  

Steps to register in the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 challenge window:


  1. The candidate must visit the https://jeemain.nta.nic.in web portal and click on the challenge link. 

  2. The candidate must enter the application number, password, and the captcha code on the login menu. After which, click the submit button.  

Steps to open the inner pages of the Challenge Window:

  1. The candidate must click the challenges to view the answer key. 

  2. The candidate can get to see the correction options and Question IDs in sequence. 

  3. In any case, if the candidate wishes to challenge the correct option provided in the answer key, they must execute the option IDs in the next four columns. The candidate must tick the checkbox by clicking it. 

  4. Equally, the candidate must upload the supporting documents to the chosen file and the upload buttons. 

  5. Finally, the candidate should proceed to select the essential options, mathematics, physics, and chemistry for paper 1 (B.E/B.Tech).

  6. After selecting the essential options, the candidate should scroll down, save the claim, and proceed to the next screen. 

  7. The candidate must use the preview option and check the IDs of the challenged options. 

  8. The candidate must click the 'save your claim and pay the fee finally.'

NTA has provided ample opportunities to challenge their answer sheet and gain marks, thereby improving their percentile in case NTA commits errors. The challenge window of JEE Main 2026 session 2 is kept open for two to three days, and the candidates are advised to contest their viewpoint on the website. However, it is the right time for the candidate to validate their answers with the officially released answer keys.
