Percentiles are calculated for every shift of each day separately by adopting the standard formulae:
Expected Score=(Number of Correct Answers×4)–(Number of Wrong Answers×1)
The total score is the sum of all subjects, including mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The total marks obtained are the raw marks out of 300.
NTA conducts 10 exams for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2, spread over five days in two shifts per day. On each shift, the candidate may find one subject or another to be tough, moderate, or easy compared to the other shifts.
To evaluate candidate performance across different shifts, NTA uses normalisation techniques.
Percentile = (100 X Number of candidates scoring)
Note:
The highest scorer on a shift on exam day will get a 100.000th percentile.
Important note:
The higher percentile across the multiple shifts will serve as the bottom line for the All India Rank (AIR) computations.
After the completion of the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 exams, the NTA shall post the answer key for every shift on the official website.
The answer key web posting shall be in 3 to 4 days. On the official website (https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/), the NTA shall display a link in the 'candidates' activity modules' that serves as a gateway to the question paper solutions.
