Synopsis:
NTA announced the tentative dates for JEE Main 2027 Session 01, scheduled for January 2027. Every year, JEE Main is conducted in two sessions: January & April. After appearing for JEE Main 2027, qualified candidates can apply for admission to NITs/IIITs and CFTIs, and the same result serves as the preliminary screening test for JEE Advanced. What can we conclude from this NTA-released news? Alarm bells are ringing, and every JEE Main aspirant needs to buckle down and focus on their preparation. Below are the key details of JEE Main 2027.
NTA has declared a tentative schedule for the JEE Main aspirants, which is likely to be held in the last week of January 2025.
The tentative schedule spans 6 days, with 31st January as the buffer date.
The scheduled dates are from 22 to 24 & 28 to 30 January 2027. On each day of the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 28th, 29th & 30th of January 2027, the examination will be conducted in two shifts ( morning & afternoon).
The JEE applicants will be allotted a date, shift, and the exam location on their hall ticket.
Each shift on the examination day will be 3 hours, and the timings are 09:00 am - 12:00 noon & 2:00 pm - 05:00 pm.
The JEE exam will be conducted as a computer-based test, and the paper will contain 75 questions covering physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
Candidates must answer carefully, as each wrong answer incurs negative marks, and unanswered questions receive zero marks. For a wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted; for a correct answer, 4 marks are added; and unattempted questions receive zero marks.
A candidate appearing for JEE Main 2027 should have passed Class 12, or be appearing in 2027 with physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
Candidates who have completed Class 12 in 2025 & 2026 are also eligible to participate in JEE Main 2027.
For JEE Main, NTA has not set an upper age limit, but it is subject to the institute-level criteria.
Candidates in the General Category, OBC-NCL, or EWS must score at least 75 per cent aggregate in Intermediate, while those in SC, ST, and PwD must score a 65 per cent aggregate.
Candidates who fall in the top 20th percentile of their corresponding boards can seek direct admission to engineering colleges.
Every candidate is eligible to attempt two sessions, Session 1 & 2. The session with the highest percentile will be considered before generating the All India Rank (AIR).
An aspirant's preparation should change from now onward. Since the tentative exam dates are put on the dashboard, your study schedule must be systematic and crystal clear.
Be specific in your revisions, and memorise formulas and important derivations. Let not even a single doubt trouble your mind; try to clear your doubts in the allotted sessions.
Try to solve as many problems as possible in mock tests, and keep track of your error-book progress. After evaluating your mock test, use your error record to reduce mistakes.
Remember, time management is crucial when you take mock tests; try to solve a series of mock tests that cover different patterns. By doing so, you can improve speed, efficiency and accuracy even in difficult-level papers.
Avoid negative thoughts, stay positive, and stay confident. Your confidence levels improve through continuous practice, practice, and practice.
On weekends, make time for yourself. Spend quality time with family and friends who encourage you during your preparation.
With the preliminary bells rung, it is the right time for aspirants preparing for 2-year-long exams to focus on final revisions. JEE aspirants must focus on mock tests and keep correcting their committed errors. Stay in regular touch with mentors and faculty to correct your mistakes and seek clarity on what confuses you. If you are a repeater with a low score in your previous attempt, you can revise and correct your mistakes by taking online recorded JEE Main 2027 classes. Students interested in a one-year long-term course can also build speed and accuracy for JEE Main 2027.
