The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) has issued a notification to all states regarding admissions to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy programs. It states that, from now onwards, there is no need to qualify the NEET cutoff marks to seek admissions to the above-mentioned courses. The lines below state in detail.
Any NEET aspirant must clear the NEET UG 2026 exam and score a minimum cutoff, which varies by category. Here is some good news for NEET aspirants who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Physiotherapy or a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) has informed all state selection committees of respective states across the nation that NEET aspirants who intend to pursue the mentioned courses must appear for NTA's NEET 2026 UG examination, and no minimum qualifying cutoff percentage is essential for admission. This information was further directed to the medical education directorates and universities. Therefore, NEET 2026 candidates are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy or Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, provided they carry their NEET score card to the admission hall, even if they have not achieved the cutoff marks.
The aspiring candidate must have completed 12th standard with physics, chemistry, and Biology with 50 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for the general category, BC, and EBS are 50%, while for the SC, ST, and OBC categories, they are 40%. In addition, the NEET candidate must have passed English.
However, a candidate must appear for NEET UG 2026, and in this issue, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wrote to Prime Minister Modi, requesting the removal of the NEET UG requirement for BPT and BOT.
The National Medical Commission has allowed NCAHP to admit NEET 2026 UG candidates to medical courses, such as Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, without meeting the cutoff marks in their respective categories. In fact, the issue has been taken up by political circles, MK Stalin has requested the removal of the NEET UG requirement for BPT and BOT.
