Candidates appearing for the NEET 2026 examination must strictly adhere to the dress code and the banned items list. Here are the NTA's mandatory rules that candidates must follow to take the NEET successfully.
The candidate should download the form from the NTA website at https://neet.nta.nic.in/, where they can obtain the examination centre, date, and timing of their examination.
The candidate should attend the examination at the exam hall on the examination date only; they are not allowed to visit the exam hall before then.
A candidate may be unable to download the admit card. Under such circumstances, they must immediately contact the helpline between 10:00 am and 05:00 pm or post their query to neetug2025@nta.ac.in.
When a discrepancy is found on the admit card in the photograph or signature, the candidate must immediately contact the NTA's communication channels.
NTA conducts the national-level exam under strict supervision, and candidates are expected to follow the set rules.
Every candidate must undergo frisking before entering the examination centre, and the process involves highly sensitive metal detectors. In view of the NEET exam, the candidate must not carry the following items inside the examination hall.
The candidate must never carry in the textual material, paper bits, geometry/pencil box, plastic pouch, calculator, pen, scale, writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, log table, Electronic.
Pen/Scanner, etc.
The candidate must not use communication devices, such as a mobile phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, a microphone, a pager, or a health band.
The candidate shouldn't carry wallets, Goggles, handbags, a belt, a cap, etc.
The candidate should not carry a watch, wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera, etc. In addition, one should not wear ornaments or metallic items.
The candidate should avoid food items, water bottles, and similar items. Moreover, the candidate should never use items that conceal communication devices to engage in unfair practices.
The candidate can wear articles or objects of faith, custom, or religion, but should inform the reporting examination centre well in advance.
The candidate should follow the instructions and should wear the dress code in the exam hall. The candidate must use slippers or sandals with low heels, but shouldn't wear shoes.
If the candidate's medical condition forces them to deviate from the NTA's set norms, they should obtain prior approval from the NTA before the issuance of the Admit card.
The frisking of the female candidates is compulsory and shall be conducted in private.
For the smooth functioning of the NEET exam, NTA establishes rules and regulations regarding the dress code and prohibited items. Candidates attending the NEET exam should maintain certain standards assigned to them, and anybody who violates the regulations shall never be permitted to take the NEET 2026.
