Telangana Intermediate Board Validates First-Year Guidelines for 2026–27

Telangana Inter First Year Guidelines

Synopsis:

The Telangana Intermediate Board has completely transformed the academic learning process from rote learning to analytical learning, thus focusing on core cognitive and analytical skills. This transformation helps students participate confidently in national-level competitive examinations and score highly, rather than taking multiple attempts to achieve a good score.

The content lines define the TGBIE common validation rules, exam pattern, and evaluation guidelines for the main exam paper. These changes to Intermediate learning and assessment methods can catch you off guard.

Telangana Intermediate 1st Year Passing Marks: Criteria

  1. A student shall be declared passed only if they appear for the theory exam and internal assessment and secure the minimum pass marks defined by the Telangana Government Board of Intermediate Education, TGBIE.

  2. Under the new validations, the minimum pass marks are 35 per cent (28 marks) out of 80.

  3. Likewise, in internal assessment, the minimum pass marks are General (7marks) out of 20.

Activity-based learning Intermediate Board

  1. The assessment is conducted four times in November and January.

  2. Students must keep a record of the assignments category-wise.

  3. Each record must include communicative functions: Just a Minute, role play, and listening comprehension.

The Intermediate Board assesses internal assessment.

  1. Each assessment is based on an activity, and performance is graded according to the defined parameters.

  2. The total internal assessment is for 4 marks.

  3. Teachers select activities, and no two assignments should be the same.

Practical Examination Details:

  1. The practical examination comprises a question-based component on well-practised concepts and subject problem-solving. Questions will be drawn from the pre-national-level syllabus, and the exam will consist of three questions.

  2. No viva voce will be conducted for the practical examination. TGBIE will evaluate the practical examination.

  3. Marks for practical (15) and record work (5) are to be submitted through the online portal as per the schedule.

Benefits of the Intermediate's new learning pattern from the 2026-27 academic year.

  1. By now, you should know that learning has been reshaping in recent years into a new approach that focuses on core concepts rather than rote memorisation.

  2. You will steadily learn to analyse concepts in topics by implementing meaningful questions that lead to a better understanding of the learned subject matter. This kind of learning encourages you to practise writing in your own words, role-play as a teacher, and explain concepts to classmates.

  3. In the analytical learning process, you may make mistakes several times, but treat those failures as a blessing in disguise and attempt to correct them.

Conclusion:

  1. Although education is a state subject and the Telangana Government can design and develop the education system, it should follow the guidelines of the National Education Policy-2020.

  2. To equip students with stronger analytical skills, Telangana is responsibly reshaping its education system. This major change, introduced for first-year 2026-27 students in Intermediate and Resonance junior colleges, has already upgraded the learning features in their integrated curriculum for JEE, IIT, or NEET preparation.

  3. A similar change is likely to be adopted for Class 12 Intermediate students in the next academic year (2027-28). Key features driving these changes include the exam pattern and modifications to marks for external and internal assessment.

  4. The passing marks are fixed. Internal assessment is divided into parts throughout the year, and each assessment is based on fixed parameters that differ for language and non-language subjects.

  5. By the end of the 2-year intermediate, these students will have well-practised concepts and problem-solving skills that form the foundation for national-level examinations such as IIT, JEE Main, BITSAT, & NEET.

  6. Telangana Intermediate bridges the gap between state and national-level learning systems, bringing state-board students on par with national boards such as CBSE, IB, and others.
