In 2026, NEET candidates from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh may have a chance of getting admission to a college that wasn't possible in the previous year, 2025. This is due to the increase in the total number of seats in Government Medical Colleges (GMC) and Private Medical Colleges, and the induction of new medical colleges. As a result, a candidate for the same rank in the previous year (2025) can expect to gain admission at the chosen college, which means the admission chance wouldn't slip away.

Given the assumption that there are 50,000 government seats in India, and the All India Quota share is 15 per cent, that equals 50,000 × 15% = 7,500. Now, for a national cutoff of AIR 15000, the 7,500th central seat gets closed.
