Synopsis:
NTA has revised the key rules for NEET UG 2026, which require a close review of the conditions when filling out the NEET 2026 application form. Candidates applying for the NEET exam this year must fill in the application form by not skipping even a minute detail, as explained in the NEET Information brochure. Remember, the aspiring candidate must register the application by March 8, 2026. Below is the key information from the listing.
The NTA has implemented a secure candidate entry process into the examination hall through Aadhaar Card e-KYC and several feature-rich tools. The updated process involves greater security checks at the NEET 2026 entrance hall. The lines below describe the key specifics of the content in crisp terms.
THE NEET UG 2026 Application window remains open until March 8, 2026, and the schedule for this year is on May 3.
NTA has made Aadhaar-based eKYC and Live photo capture mandatory in the application process.
From now on, several new courses are in the NEET fold for admissions.
The candidate must specify the exam city and medium, which will link to the address.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) opened the registration window for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2026) on February 8, 2026, and it will remain active until March 8, 2028.
In the application, the NTA has implemented security measures to streamline best practices for candidates.
Three significant protocols are mandatory for every NEET aspirant: Aadhaar-based verification, live photo capture, and a revised exam city selection process.
The entry date and the closing date for the NEET UG aspirant are February 8 to March 8, 2026.
The NEET exam is scheduled for May 3, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and is a nationwide entrance test.
NEET UG 2026 is a nationwide examination taken by lakhs of medical aspirants, and maintaining the fairness of the national-level examination is the primary objective. To this end, NTA is implementing a new security framework that introduces Aadhaar-based eKYC to verify the authenticity of NEET aspirants at the examination hall. The candidate must be cautious in maintaining specific details, such as:
At the time of registration, the candidate must use an Aadhaar-linked mobile number that is active, and the network must be active throughout the registration process.
The candidate must verify network coverage during the verification process; otherwise, this may disrupt the process.
NTA requires a live photograph at the time of application submission, captured using a specific procedure.
The candidate must use either a functional webcam or a smartphone.
The candidate must scan the QR code in the application portal. As per NTA specifications, the face should occupy at least 80 per cent of the frame and should not use caps, glasses, or goggles.
The NTA web portal shall cross-reference the live image with the Aadhaar card photograph to verify identity.
In some cases, a candidate's photograph may not match the one on the Aadhaar Card; in that case, they must upload a supporting document as specified in the application form.
A candidate shall be required to furnish the permanent and current address in the application form, and the allotment of the exam centre and question paper medium will be dependent on it.
The NTA adopts this type of exam centre allocation to optimise logistics and provide greater geographical convenience.
NTA allows NEET aspirants to appear for the examination in their chosen language from the 13 national languages. They are Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
The candidate must upload the scanned copies that are essential for finalising registrations:
Recent Photograph
Signature
Valid address proof
New live photo
The changes are a direct response to security concerns about the exam. The introduction of the Aadhaar Card eKYC and real-time photo verification has led to a foolproof registration system, thereby minimising malpractices at examination centres.
NEET UG, a single gateway for medical admissions, now offers additional allied and healthcare services. In addition to MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BVSC, AH, BAMS, BUMS, and BHMS, several allied and healthcare courses will begin in 2026-27.
NEET aspirants are advised to review the NTA NEET information brochure and begin the application process before the deadline to ensure they can complete the new verification steps conveniently.
