NTA Makes Uploading of JEE Main Photo Verification Certificate Document Mandatory!

Upload the JEE Main Photo Verification

NTA has announced that JEE aspirants must upload their photo verification certificate. This year, the last date to update the JEE Main application with a photo verification certificate is January 7, 2026. Furthermore, at the JEE Main entrance hall, the invigilators shall hold a live photo and biometric verification of the aspirants. In 2025, the NTA launched a test project in New Delhi at several centres. From this year onward, the NTA will implement the verification process nationwide.

Every year, a JEE aspirant uploads a set of documents for verification, including a PAN card, an Aadhaar Card, an Indian Passport, and a non-Indian passport. From this year onward, applicants must upload a photo-verification document by January 7, 2026. But how?

Steps to Upload the Photo Verification Document on the NTA Official Website

  1. The applicant must first log in to the jeemain.nta.nic.in the portal, using the JEE Main 2026 application number and password.

  2. The applicant must download the photo verification certificate using the provided link.

  3. The applicant must provide the details, attach a recent passport-size photograph, and have the certificate attested by the school, college principal, or headmaster.

  4. The applicant must scan the document and upload it as a PDF by opening the related link on the website. The applicant must upload their certificates by January 7, 2026.

  5. Important Note:

    1. The attestation of the certificate by the concerned authority must appear partly on the photograph and partly on the certificate.

    2. The applicant must present the certificate at the exam centre for its physical verification.

Another critical implementation from January 2026 is to enable real-time identity verification to address unfair practices and curb impersonation. NTA has decided to introduce photo and facial biometric verification for JEE Main and NEET aspirants from 2026 onwards.

During the NEET UG - 2025 examination, NTA performed the Aadhaar-based facial authentication at select examination centres in Delhi. The pilot project was successful, and NTA decided to implement it across all national-level examinations from 2026 onward.

Summary:

The NTA has tightened the verification process at the examination centre by introducing a photo-verification certificate and biometric verification of aspirants in physical form. For this purpose, NTA has issued an official notice to JEE Main applicants, instructing them to upload their photo verification document details via the link on the official website. The last date of submission of the photo verification certificate is January 7, 2026.
