With the completion of Session 1 in JEE Main 2026, everyone's attention is now focused on Session 2, and the best of the two determines the JEE score for NITs, IIITs, and other Central Government-funded institutions. But another community of JEE aspirants are eagerly awaiting the category-wise cutoffs to know whether they are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Below is an approximate list of percentiles that determine whether JEE aspirants are eligible to take the IIT test.

JEE Advanced 2026: Overview

IIT Roorkee is organising the JEE Advanced 2026 exam, which will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The entire examination is computer-based, with paper 1 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.  Unlike JEE Main 2026, the candidate must participate in both sessions, the morning and afternoon shifts. 

Important JEE Advanced 2026 Milestones:  

  1. The NTA official portal shall remain open for the JEE Advanced 2026 registration from Thursday, April 23, 2026, to Saturday, May 2, 2026.

  2. The official link for the fee payment shall remain accessible until Monday, May 4, 2026. 

  3. The participating candidate must download the admit card from Monday, May 11, 2026, to Sunday, May 17, 2026.

  4. The much-awaited JEE Advanced is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026.

JEE Advanced 2026 Registration & the Eligibility Conditions: 

1.NTA has benchmarked the total number of candidates who can apply as top 2.5 lakh, and it covers all categories who have participated in JEE Main 2026 for B.E/B.Tech.Tech.Tech.    2.A candidate appearing for the JEE Advanced 2026 must be born on or after October 1, 2001, and students belonging to SC, ST, and PwD have a 5-year relaxation.  3.The candidate must be pursuing Class 12 (2026) or have pursued it in 2025.  A candidate is permitted to take JEE Advanced for a maximum of two times in two consecutive years, either 2025, 2026 or 2026, 2027.  4.A candidate should not have accepted the IIT seat in any of its campuses, or continue a seat on its acceptance. 

Uploading of Significant Documents:

1.The candidate must upload the category certificates in the prescribed formats for OBC, NCL, EWS, SC, and ST.  

2.The candidate must be careful when filling in the select fields, such as name and date of birth. These details should match the details provided in the JEE Main and Class XII marks memos.  

3.A PwD candidate must produce correct documentation, quoting specifics as needed, as they may require scribes. 

JEE Advanced 2026: Exam Structure and Trends:

1.The examination difficulty level can be increased, and the candidate is expected to focus on logical reasoning, probability, and combinatorics.

2.If there is a high registration for JEE Advanced 2026, then you can expect higher cutoffs for qualifying to the top premier institutions. 

3.The candidates must be careful about potential threats arising from negative marking schemes and avoid guessing answers. 

Key Note:

IIT Roorkee is conducting JEE Advanced 2026, and IISc Bengaluru is included in the JoSAA 2026 counselling process. Another important note is that the foreign national applicants will not be included in the 2.5 lakh limit, and there will be 10% supernumerary seats.
