In a couple of days, from February 2 to 21, the practical exams for both first- and second-year intermediate students shall begin and end in the last week of March 2026. Throughout the examination period, parents will face tough challenges with their children (students) appearing for the Class 12 Intermediate Board Examinations. Parents should address sensitive issues sensibly to ensure their children's examinations are completed successfully. Functionally, here are some essentials parents should consider for their children (students).
Parents should consciously help students till the exam ends.
Days before the main examination, students should reduce work pressure and focus on maintaining their mental stability. As the examination date draws closer, exam fever intensifies, and it is then that parents should reduce their monitoring of their child's studies and begin to provide conscious support. Parents should guide children through last-minute preparation to the end of exams, meticulously planning to comfort rather than control them, which can lead to stress buildup.
Parents Must Consciously Conduct the following activities during the examination.
After completing the exam syllabus preparations, students should continue revisions, consolidate their learning, and retain confidence. All such things can be met when a student is steady and able to avoid emotional breakdown.
Parents should retain focus on:
Be prepared to help the child reduce anxiety, ask a student to revise what was read earlier, avoid studying new material, and stop comparing what-if scenarios.
Parents should encourage short breaks while revising, ensure adequate sleep, and provide emotional support. During this phase of the examination, a calm mind can create a greater impact on the exam performance.
In the times of examination:
Parents must realise that each examination is independent, and they should avoid post-exam analysis or discussions.
Parents must advise and motivate their child not to take paper performances seriously, be it good or bad; they must keep a positive pace during the examination and not experience negativity.
Parents should help their child feel comfortable and experience the morning hours without stress by adopting simple routines and maintaining positive communication.
Parents should ensure they maintain proper logistics, including transportation, food, and hall tickets.
Parents must keep the home environment clean, green and noiseless. By doing so, the child can balance their mental condition and prepare the following paper confidently.
In between Exams:
Parents should guide their children to make better use of the gaps that arise between examinations, as excessive pressure can disrupt proper revision.
Prioritise Weak Areas:
Parents should monitor children (students) to focus on revisions and ask them to repeatedly revise their weaker areas of the subject, instead of covering the entire syllabus and getting confused at times.
Long examination gaps:
It is a natural tendency of students to take long naps when there are long examination gaps, so parents should restrict long rest and sleep.
Balanced preparation: Until the exam ends
Parents should adjust the study schedules in the most balanced manner, and students' preparation should prevent burnout during the exam schedule. With the progress of an examination, a student can experience fatigue when triggered by emotional and physical stress.
Discussion on the question paper afterthe exam:
Parents should never discuss matters such as results, admission for future education, and so on until the student has completed the entire examination.
Parents should defend students' motives: Parents' support during the last days of exams alone can boost a child's spirit.
Parents should keep an eye on the official TSBIE website, as the students' hall tickets are released a few weeks before the theory examination.
Parents should follow up to confirm whether the student has completed their practical examination and check the pre-board assessment at their intermediate college.
Parents should monitor the study timetable and relaxation schedule from the beginning to the completion of the examination, scheduled from the third week of January to the last week of March 2026.
The practical examinations for the group streams shall take place from February 2 to February 21, 2026. These practical exams will be held in two sessions, morning (9:00 am-12:00 noon) & afternoon (2:00 pm- 5:00 pm).
The first-year Intermediate exam shall start on February 25 and end on March 17, 2026. The exams are held in the morning session from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon every day.
The second-year intermediate exam shall start on February 26 and end on March 18, 2026. The exams are held in the morning session from 9:00 am to 12 noon every day.
During the examination period, parents should be alert and ensure their behaviour fosters a stress-free environment, without ever pressuring. Parents should remain calm and ensure that their presence during the last-minute preparation for the final exam acts as a catalyst. These are highly sensitive issues that a parent should bear in mind; there is a likelihood of a fall in their scores even with outstanding preparations.
