Synopsis: 

Before the release of JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results, the NTA opens a response sheet window, and aspirants may challenge the marked answers with supporting evidence. Once verified, the NTA shall be made available for review. It is an important day for those who are confident in their arguments to prove their point of view. The lines detail it. 

Response Sheet Window Opens in a Couple of Days

In a couple of days, NTA will open the response sheet window for JEE 2026 session 1 aspirants; the expected date is February 4 or beforeAspirants may check their answer sheets, and the original date for the release of JEE Main 2026 session 1 results is February 12, according to the NTA's official release. JEE Main 2026 session 1 aspirants can download the response sheet and check the answer key on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. They must use the login credentials registered at the time of submission. 

The response sheet will include the exam details: application number, registration number, exam date and time, question type, question status, and the correct answer. 

Steps to download the response sheet of JEE Main 2026 session 1:

  1. The aspirant must open the official website at jeemain.nta.ac.in in a web browser and enter the URL in the address bar. 

  2. The aspirant must click the JEE Main response sheet 2026 link and enter the relevant link. 

  3. The aspirant must enter the application number and password as defined in the earlier stages while registering for the JEE Main 2026 session registration link. 

  4. The aspirant must click on the JEE Main response sheet and the answer key link.

  5.  The aspirant must download the pdf file and preserve the details for future reference. 

  6. The testing agency will begin registration for session 2 between February 1 and 25, 2026. 

Procedure to challenge the answer key:

The aspirant must pay ₹200 per question (non-refundable). The aspirant must upload supporting evidence from standard textbooks or academic resources. If the aspirant wins the challenge, then NTA shall refund the fee, and the final answer will be released online for review. 

Questions: Negative marking in JEE Main 2026 Session 1

NTA will award +4 for the correct answer, -1 for the incorrect answer, and 0 for an unattempted question. 

JEE Main 2026 Session 1: Results Declaration

The NTA is most likely to declare the results of JEE Main 2026 Session 1 on or before February 12, 2026. On that day, the NTA shall declare the cutoff marks (category), scores, and percentiles of all aspirants who appeared in Session 1. Aspirants whose percentiles exceed the set cutoff are eligible to take the JEE Advanced, but this is confirmed only after they complete their session 2 examination. It is not mandatory for every aspirant to attempt both sessions, but the NTA offers a second attempt to improve their JEE Main 2026 scores.
