Telangana Education Commission has proposed major changes to the education system, with TS EAMCET reportedly under scrutiny on whether to scrap EAMCET from the next academic year (2026-27). If it happens, it shall be the largest reform implementation by the Education Commission, as directed by the Telanaga Government. However, the EAMCET shall follow its regulated timetable for the entrance examination for the academic year 2026-27.
The education commission has submitted a comprehensive proposal report to CM Revanth Reddy, detailing plans to cancel TS EAMCET and shift to class 12-based admissions, making this a pivotal moment in Telangana's education reforms.
The recommendations state that Class 10 students should be exempted from the board exam and the board exam should be shifted to Class 12.
At the state level, the introduction of English as the medium of instruction from nursery to university level.
Further, the recommendation says that the Diploma in Elementary Education should be scrapped and that the B.Ed programme must be split into two streams. B.Ed (Primary) from Nursery to Class V, B.Ed (Secondary) for Class 6th to 12th.
Amendments to be putforth that shall regulate and control IIT-JEE and NEET coaching centres, and the regulations are extended to hostels.
Although the issue of cancelling the TS EAPCET is under consideration, it is likely to be implemented starting with the next academic year. However, the application process is underway, and eligible aspirants can apply at eapcet.tgche.ac.in.
The Agricultural and Pharmacy exam of the EAPCET 2026 shall commence on May 4 and May 5, and the engineering exam will be on May 9 and May 11.
Each day, the examination shall be in two shifts in CBT mode. The first shift will be in the forenoon, 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, and the second shift will be in the afternoon from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM.
With the news circulating through educational circles, people are sceptical about the impending changes in educational reforms and whether they will yield meaningful results. The entire agenda is about not letting students feel the pressure of competitive exams. With fingers crossed, educationalists and the student community are waiting for the implementation of the proposed educational reforms.
